Alleged anti-Obama slur by cop probed

STAFF REPORTS
An investigation is under way into whether a Chicago Police officer made racially charged comments about President Obama in a phone call to an FBI agent, WMAQ-Channel 5 and WFLD-Channel 32 reported Thursday night.

A Chicago Police spokesperson stressed there is no evidence a police officer was involved, but an internal investigation has been launched in the wake of the allegations.

The incident reportedly happened earlier this week and the call allegedly was made from a Northwest Side home in the Jefferson Park police district. Officers reportedly were at the residence, investigating a death, when the call was made, a law enforcement source said.

It was unclear Thursday what other agencies -- or even civilians -- were inside the house.

Details were sketchy, but at least one phone call was made to an FBI agent and racist comments allegedly were captured on voice mail, Channel 5 reported.

Asked late Thursday about the case, Monique Bond, Chicago Police Department spokeswoman, issued this statement:

"There is no evidence to indicate that Chicago Police officers are involved in the reported allegations. As a matter of course, we have launched an investigation into the matter."

I forgot we don't have freedom of speech as Police officers even though it's a constitutional right
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to denote not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. The right to freedom of speech is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). The ICCPR recognizes the right to freedom of speech as "the right to hold opinions without interference.
