The governor also intends to raise cigarette taxes up to $1 over two years, which would double the existing 98-cent-a-pack state tax, the newspaper said.
The Tribune earlier reported that the governor is considering raising the state income tax from 3 percent to as much as 4.5 percent.
________________________________________________________________________________ Bitch2 Oh Come On $98 dollars. Remember when Gov. Ryan jumped the sticker fee from $48 to $78 that was bullshit increasing it $30 dollars. OK so now a three car home has to pay $294 but if they live in the city now we have to have city stickers for the 3 cars because for some reason the city makes you pay $75 & up per car for what !@#@ 294 + 225 ______ 519 extra dollars a year for a family with 3 vehicles
