WASHINGTON (CNN) - Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make veterans pay for treatment of service-related injuries with private insurance, but was told by lawmakers that it would be "dead on arrival" if sent to Congress.
Washington Sen. Patty Murray used that blunt terminology, telling Shinseki that the idea would not be acceptable and would be rejected if formally proposed. She made the remarks during a Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs hearing about the 2010 budget.
No official proposal to create such a program has been announced publicly, but veterans groups wrote a pre-emptive letter last week to President Obama opposing the idea after hearing the plan was under consideration. The groups also noticed an increase in “third-party collections” estimated in the 2010 budget proposal—something they said could only be achieved if the VA started billing for service-related injuries.

Problem is we've got an illegal alien running the country. Maybe that immigrant ought to lose his insurance first.
It's not going to happen, they've seen the folly of their ways. But even more disturbing than their attempt at dishonoring our country's heroes, is the mindset that fermented this travesty. These Obama sycophants have no conscience and no sense of pride in America. There is a total lack of respect, honor, grace, and formality--not unlike the Carter years--that is dumbing down our culture. I'm disheartened by it all.
When my Army son's shoulder was dislocated during a mishandled training exercise, we flew him home and paid out of pocket to take him to our own physicians because the govt's medical system is a joke. (No, I'm not rich and I had to get a loan and negotiate some fees.)
He had arthro surgery four months sooner than he would have had in the Army, and better physical therapy and followup care. Today he is back to full duty and just finished jump school! If we had let him languish in the government's system who knows what would have happened?
Here's the best part! The Democrats want us all to have a universal health care system that's administered by the government! But they admit it's so bad they want our soldiers to use private insurance?! God help us, please!
