TWO COPS FIRED ONE SUSPENDED

Two Chicago police officers were fired and a third was suspended in separate decisions released today by the Chicago Police Board.
John Dellorto was fired for using another officer's pass code to alter department computer data to inflate the number of arrests and awards he received over two years, according to the board's decision. The officer testified he did it as a joke, one he later regretted.

John Krupa III was fired for disobeying orders when he left a police station with a personal bag that a dog trained to detect drugs had alerted on during an earlier search of his car.

Linda Brumfield was suspended for seven months for pushing a towing company employee while off-duty after the company refused to waive a towing fee for her friend's towed car.

It's very saddening to see how the police board ruled on the case with officer Krupa. Everyone here was pulling for him. He's a great guy and an excellent police officer that gave 110% to law enforcement.

I'm surprised to see that the media did not cover any of the facts that Krupa is pursuing misconduct charges against members of IAD that bring false allegations against officers, like they did to him.

The media also never mentioned that Krupa filed a federal lawsuit against those same IAD members, which CPD used as grounds to retaliate against him thru separation. And then they wonder why we don't want to work any more?

Good luck to you and your family officer Krupa. Don't let this political witch hunt keep you down.

No doubt that the political fix was in on Krupa's case!! They totally railroaded this guy - for no reason. Everyone here knows IAD fabricated those allegations against Krupa, and the bosses did nothing about it!

This thing started in September of 2004 and you fire him 5 years later on BS? Give me a break. In the meantime, the police board has been reinstating officers with serious charges and misdemeanor convictions?

This guy WON his criminal case in court. He did nothing wrong. But because he filed a lawsuit against the city, they fired him. This city and department are a joke!

The message to everyone here is - if you stand up for yourself and fight for what's right and sue the city when your right, they are going to put the political fix in and fire you. Period!

We're still rooting for you Officer Krupa! Stay strong as you continue your fight and god bless you and your family.

The public corruption unit from the State or the FBI needs to take a look at the corruption in IAD - NOW, before they victimize any other officers.

Come on Krupa, who you kidding? Did you really think you were going to file a lawsuit against the city and the General Counsel to the Supt. – Debra Kirby, and think that Kirby wasn’t going to “politically fix” the outcome of your case.

You’ve been working for the city how long??? You going after Kirby was like slapping Daley in the face. What’s that phrase from Braveheart – “A strike on the king’s men is a strike on the king himself”?

Buddy, you started the fire, now you gotta deal with the heat. I’ve heard a lot of good things about you and been on your website, but none of that stuff matters when you’re fighting Daley’s machine.

ALL the police board members are in Daley’s pocket. They were appointed by - guess who - oh, that’s right – THE MAYOR. They are going to do whatever HE says.

All those awards you have, all the hard work you put in as an officer, all the contributions you have made to law enforcement training don’t mean squat when it comes to taking a political beat down.

Sorry to see this happen to you buddy, but when it comes down to brass tacks, they are going to look out for their own.

Officer John Krupa III was a victim of coverup by the Chicago Police Department's Internal Affairs Division's incompetency and lies.

There is a huge civil suit pending on this matter in Federal court; the City of Chicago and the taxpayers will be left holding the bag for the political coverup.

The citizens need to know that the politics and the corruption of Chicago is now actively destroying police officer's lives and reputations. Nobody wants to do anything anymore, because nobody wants to be the next martyr.

If you run afoul of the Chicago Democratic Machine you will be fired, destroyed in the media and financially ruined.

I hope that Officer Krupa is paid millions of dollars for this injustice. There are a lot of officers who have been unjustly punished by the political establishment.

Let justice be done!

That last post from the 19th Ward guy is pretty scary! I wanted to see what all the hype is about with this krupa guy, so I googled his name and checked out his website.

The guy has a laundry list of credentials a mile long that would make any agency want to scoop him up! From the looks of it, the city spent well over $ 100,000 in tax payers $$$ to train this guy in all that stuff.

There’s a list on his website that shows he presented training classes to officers from hundreds of police agencies across the country. Why on earth would they invest all that time and money into him then just give him the axe like that?

The guy wins his case in court, shows that the IAD officers were wrong, hits them with a federal lawsuit, and then they fire him?

I’m not a brain surgeon, but none of that stuff sounds right. That Kirby lady sounds like a real scary person. I guess if they want to get you, they’re gonna get you. Glad I don’t work there. I don’t think I could handle that!

I’ll say this krupa; you’re a stronger person then me! Good luck with your case and I hope you find a way back to work, lord knows, you earned it.

Reference Officer John Krupa III.
It should be noted that a lot of Police officer put contraband in their own bags in their squad cars for transport to the station for booking and inventory and ofcourse some trace of narcotic is goin to be positive for the the dogs to detect ! This officer has a very clean record within the Police Department and was given several commendations for his service to the community & served this country in the military, but the Politics in the City of Chicago and within the Police Department it leaves a lot to be desire, and trying to get a fair shake is almost impossible.

I THINK ITS FUNNY THAT WHEN SOMEONE IS ACCUSED OF A CRIME WHO IS NOT A COP, AND SAYS THAT A COP SET THEM UP YOU COPS SAY ITS BULL AND TO TELL IT TO THE JUDGE. YOU PEOPLE ARE THE REASON WHY AMERICA IS SO SCREWED UP.

Response to the guy that posted April 7, 2009 12:22 PM

Not sure where you live, but in my community, the police are excellent! 99.9% of the cops out there do the best job they can and are there when YOU need them. Like any other job, there are always going to be employees that are trouble makers and don't belong there, even on some police departments. That doesn't make the rest of the employees bad - with any company.

After reading on-line what they did to this Krupa guy and how he's fighting to prosecute "the bad cops", I would think you'd support this guy. I think if every department had cops like Krupa, who are not afraid to go after other bad cops, all police departments would be better.

It's obvious that someone at a very high political level within his department is protecting the guys he's going after. It's a shame to see a guy like Krupa posted on a blog like this and branded as a "bad cop".

After reading the brief on-line, I don't see that he did anything wrong. The brief shows that he has plenty of witnesses corroborating his story, even a federal judge ruled in his favor.

It sound like your experiences with police have been unpleasant. My guess is that if you are having a high level of contact with police, you probably deserved what you got! Move someplace nice, change your lifestyle, become a model citizen and start taking responsibility for the things you do. Stop trying to find someone else to blame the reasons you are the way you are - just because some other good cops caught you dirty.
