Off-duty cop shot in possible carjack attempt April 12, 2009 3:52 AM An off-duty police officer was shot in what might have been an attempted carjacking in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, police said.
The incident occurred about 2:50 a.m. in the 8700 block of Halsted Street, News Affairs Officer John Henry said citing preliminary information.
An offender apparently approached and shot the 36-year-old male officer in the arm, which resulted in an exchange of gunfire between the officer and the offender, Henry said.
The officer was taken to an area hospital in good condition, he said.
Nobody was in custody as of 3:40 a.m., he said.
No further information on the case was immediately available.
